Escape from NY

Our primary home is on the Upper East Side of New York City.  When the virus started taking its grip on New York we were on a Spring Break vacation in Barbados.  It was a beautiful vacation, but the cloud of the virus hung over us as we monitored news at home.  Should we leave early?  Will we be able to get out or allowed back in?  Will we get sick?  Questions and worries that we didn’t even consider at the beginning of our trip.  Things were developing quickly.  We decided to leave a day early.

Upon arrival home  on March 17th - St. Patricks Day - things were much different in our neighborhood.  St. Patrick’s Day usually a day when the city is awash in green and bars spilling out with revelers, instead it was eerily quiet.  Once back at our typical high rise UES building, we dropped our bags, unpacked, did wash, and repacked.  Off we were (for one week? Two?) to my husbands family home in the Catskills.
