Country road, take me home.
We left the city and came to my husband’s childhood home in Prattsville, NY. The place where my husband grew up and our girls spent many summers at “Camp Nana and Grandad”. I had never spent more than a long weekend here. We thought we would be here a week maybe two. Well.... 4 months later and we are still here. The home is nestled in the Catskill Mountains. My in-laws left NYC in the late 60’s eager to find property and live their version of Thoreau’s “Walden Pond”. They bought 52 acres, built a small cabin near a pond, but the big difference is they had 6 kids in tow! Weekends would be spent commuting from NYC to the cabin while the main house was being built. 49 years later - it’s all still here. The kids have left and my MIL lives with her daughter full time in Cape Cod. It’s been a perfect place to Quarentine.
